World Economic Forum – Davos 2025

Dave was at Davos, or to give it its correct title “the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland”. The WEF Annual Meeting “convenes global leaders to address key global and regional challenges. These include responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and stewarding a just and inclusive energy transition.” This year’s theme was ‘Collaboration for the Intelligent Age‘.

Dave was there for some meetings with investors on behalf of a couple of the companies that I advise. This meant that I had a chance to stop in and listen to some seriously interesting people.

When he stopped in at the MIT Dome, for example, he sat in on a terrific panel about international AI development that included Sir Demis Hassabis, the nobel-prize winning cofounder of DeepMind. The panel were discussing (amongst other things) the dangers of “rogue” AI. Sir Demis said that he was “cautiously optimistic” about the future, which Dave was heartened to hear because he is too!

And popped into the Open Wallet session: The Importance of International Standards for the Interoperability of Digital Wallets which attracted a very large crowd…

Fantastic few days at the World Economic Forum – Davos!
