Continuing his Digital Identity Tour Down Under, Dave Birch has been busy delivering education sessions, speeches and taking part in panels all over Sydney for eager audiences looking to learn from the experiences around the globe that Dave can shed light on…
Fintech Cruise – Digital Identity on the High Seas

The William The Fourth and all those who took part in the Fintech Cruis!
For the inaugural PayEd Fintech Cruise, David Birch chose to speak on the topic of “Digital ID on the High Seas”. Following the success of the previous world first educational events Payments In The Outback (2022), The Sound of Payments (2023) and The Payments Express train (2023), it was great fun to head to the sea and Newcastle did not disappoint providing a sunny calm day on the water.
If your Fintech mind has ever wondered about Digital ID on the seas, compared to on the land? Or, if you’ve considered how to check the Digital ID of Jack Sparrow then this was THE event to attend. Pirate costumes were optional, and DigitalID was not checked before entry!

After the session, David was approached by a curious 16 year old who seemed very interested in the topic. He wanted to know more about Digital Identity and was very interested in how this might shape his future. It was great to see how this topic is permeating the interest of future generations.
This latest PayEd experiential learning event was a crowd pleaser, and even included a trip to the Hunter Valley along the way – quite the full day.
Connect ID & Ping Identity – Digital Identity & the New Frontier in this Space

Next up, David head to an invite only roundtable event in Sydney hosted by ConnectID in collaboration with Ping Identity, this important discussion touched on key themes surrounding digital identity & what the new frontier in this space might look like.
Co-hosts and fellow speakers Brad Carr, Ashley Diffey and Andrew Black explored the topic in depth during their conversation and sparked some key questions:
- How can we strengthen trust for our customers in a digital world?
- How can we leverage a collaborative whole-of-economy solution to better target fraud and scams?
